I am running for the 6 year term for the P-CCS School Board.
A 20 year Canton resident - I have two children who attended P-CCS schools from pre-school through high school.
Accounting/Finance Background - Bachelor's degree in accounting from U of M-Dearborn. Worked in public accounting and corporate tax. Currently the volunteer bookkeeper and member of the finance committee for the Plymouth-Canton Educational Excellence Foundation.
Board Experience - Served on the P-CCS Parent Council Board and a Trustee with the Educational Excellence Foundation. Knowledge of the P-CCS School Board from having attended regular board meetings and subcommittee meetings for numerous years.
Knowledge of the District - Volunteered for 19 years in the Plymouth–Canton schools from pre-school to high school. Previously, worked as a substitute parapro for the district.
If elected as a Trustee of the P-CCS School Board I will:
Ensure that we are using district resources in the best way possible.
Make certain that every P-CCS student receives an equitable education and is fully prepared for whatever future endeavors they wish to pursue.
Improve district communication and transparency with community stakeholders.
Address the cleanliness of classrooms and district buildings to ensure the health and safety of every P-CCS student and staff member.
I am a dedicated advocate of our P-CCS schools and believe strongly in our public school system. I feel privileged that my children were able to attend such a great school district. I developed a strong understanding of our district and learned more about the needs of students, teachers, and staff through my volunteer work. I have an extensive knowledge of the district having been involved at every level from preschool to high school. I have worked in partnership with administrators and staff at the Board of Education office through my work on P-CCS Parent Council, various task forces and my work with the EEF.
I hope to be able to continue to support the Plymouth-Canton Community School district by serving on the Board of Education and to be a voice for all students, teachers and staff.
